Determine a theme or central idea of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details; provide a summary of the text distinct from personal opinions or judgments.
Today's Goal: Reflect on what we've learned so far as we continue reading and noting particular thematic ideas and evidence.
Question to think about as we continue this book:
How do each of the characters in Homeless Bird find happiness? Many characters work towards happiness in different ways. How are they similar or different? Can you relate to any of their ways of finding happiness?
- Read (independent)
- Quickwrite and Discussion
- Concepts that might help you for chapter 8 and 9
- Read Chapter 9 - have sticky notes on hand
- Monthly Mindfulness (last 10 minutes)
Quickwrite Topic:
How has Koly changed over the course of this book? Why? What has caused those changes?
Reading Actively:
You are expected to place at least two stickies for every chapter.
Do not put a sticky on the page unless you label it:
*Home/Family
*Perseverance
*Dreams, Hopes, and Plans
*Gender
*happiness and well-being
*something else super important that you don't want to forget?
Reminders/Homework:
- Finish Monthly Mindfulness on Google Classroom if you didn't finish it in class. You can't get it wrong as long as your honest and thoughtful.
- Two Achieve articles due by Friday at midnight
- One Teacher Choice: "Turning Workouts into Watts"
- One student choice
- I haven't finished progress report grades (which is lucky for you, because anything you get me today, Monday, will also be included on your progress reports.)
- Make Up Your Radio Recording. We spent two days in class on that and you need to make it happen. (Click on that link to go to the directions)
- Turn in your One-Pager ASAP (because you don't want a zero)
