Determine a theme or central idea of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details; provide a summary of the text distinct from personal opinions or judgments.
Today's Goal: Create a short summary of a scene in Chapter 9 by making a 3-panel storyboard.
Question to think about as we continue this book:
How do each of the characters in Homeless Bird find happiness? Many characters work towards happiness in different ways. How are they similar or different? Can you relate to any of their ways of finding happiness?
- Watch the video I made for you below. It will work this time, I promise.
- Read the rest of chapter 9 - make sure you have some sticky notes!
- "Storyboard That" Scene Design
- If you finish: Monthly Mindfulness, and if that's finished, do an Achieve.
Reading Actively:
You are expected to place at least two stickies for every chapter.
Do not put a sticky on the page unless you label it:
*Home/Family
*Perseverance
*Dreams, Hopes, and Plans
*Gender
*happiness and well-being
*something else super important that you don't want to forget?
Storyboard That
Some of you have used this before. Some of you have not. That's okay! You and a partner will make ONE three-panel comic representing one scene in Chapter 9 of Homeless Bird. (this means you only need one computer.)
Here are directions:
- Go to Storyboard That
- Click (1) Log On, (2) I'm a New User, and finally (3) Sign in With Google. NOTE: Only one person in your team needs to do this. You only need one computer.
- Once you get all logged in, You'll create a new storyboard!
- There are bajillion scenes, characters, shapes, and other things to work with. You and your partner will be assigned to make one of the scenes listed below.
- Click "Save" ASAP. Give your storyboard a title.
- When you're done, click "Download images," then save as a PDF.
- Go upload it on Google Classroom. When you submit, leave a note stating who was in your group with you and which scene you were assigned.
- If you don't finish, DO NOT PANIC. Just make sure you save it so you don't lose your work. I don't know how far you will get while I'm gone, so if most of you don't finish, we'll finish tomorrow. It's an experiment. Sorry I'm not here for it, but all the plans were already made.
