Blending Quotes

Today's Goal: Practice taking quotes from Homeless bird and "blending them" into your sentences. This is a super important skill. You may also hear it called "integrating" your quotes.

Unit Goal: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.6.2
Determine a theme or central idea of a text and how it is conveyed through particular details

The Plan:
  1. Read
  2. Blending Quotes Stations (I have paper copies for this)
Blending Quotes:
This is a skill that you'll be practicing FOREVER.
It's also something that I noticed you had a hard time doing on your one-pagers, and is going to be really important for your writing moving forward.
Hopefully if we stop and just focus on this, it will help you and your writing.

HERE IS THE VIDEO YOU NEED

Reminders/Homework:
  • No Achieve
  • Complete the Evidence form from yesterday if didn't do it or if you were absent.
  • Read a book! (You should have at least one book complete by the end of spring break!)
  • Make edits to your one-pager if you need to. I EXPECT that if you didn't reach the "competent" level, that you make revisions.
    • IF you revise, you MUST return your original one-pager and rubric to me.
    • The work we do today and Friday should help you.
